St. Louis Cardinals: Five players who could make the Birds a playoff team
By Jason Grose

The St. Louis Cardinals are 36-28 and in third place in the NL Central. Right now, we would be missing the playoffs for the third straight year. Who can we trade for to turn the team into a playoff contender?
With all of the options in the previous slides, who should the St. Louis Cardinals take? Or should they choose to take none of the above?

While one can make arguments for several other players, I think there are clear needs for this St. Louis Cardinals team. Offense is needed in general. But, the main one, in my opinion, is at second base. As a former slight-of-size college second baseman, I have pulled for Wong since we drafted him. But, it’s time for him to go.
Trading JMart to the AL while his value is high might also make sense.
As I mentioned in previous slides, the bullpen has been poor too, and the team clearly needs some help there, which I didn’t discuss.
Can the outstanding starting pitching carry us all the way into the postseason? Maybe. Can our lack of offense and poor bullpen get us deep into the playoffs or to the World Series? No.
There are several pieces already here. We just need a few more to bring us back to a level we are accustomed to.
What do you guys think? Are there other players you think we could or should go get? Let me know. Thanks for reading.
