The Best Fans in Baseball have been waiting for this day for years. The St. Louis Cardinals are returning to having their navy caps as their primary road cap starting this weekend.

It's a move that many Cardinals fans have voiced their opinion about for a long time. The Cardinals recently put out a survey asking the fanbase their thoughts on all of their uniforms, and it was clear in the feedback that Cardinals fans love the navy road caps.

In recent years, the Cardinals have mostly reserved the navy cap for road series against teams who also have red as their primary color, like the Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Angels, Boston Red Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies. But even against those clubs, the Cardinals would sometimes opt to go with their red caps instead.

The Cardinals will still sport their red caps on the road in some instances, like when they wear their Victory Blues on Saturdays, and have not ruled out wearing them on other days as well. But the return to navy being the primary cap for road affairs will be a welcome change for many.

The Cardinals continue to show they are listening to fans with recent uniform change

Some fans care deeply about uniform details while others could care less, but this is another point in the direction of the organization and their desire to listen to the fanbase. Owner Bill DeWitt Jr., CEO Bill DeWitt III, president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, and president of business operations Anuk Karunaratne have been very open about the Cardinals' desire to reengage the fanbase and create a product worth coming out for.

This is a small and simple gesture, but one that should show they mean it when they say they want to win the support of fans back. No one stopped watching the Cardinals because they weren't wearing their navy caps on the road enough, but many have grown apathetic or angry toward the organization in recent years, feeling as though they lost their feel for what fans desired.

During the survey, fans were also asked a variety of other questions, like ranking the Cardinals uniform sets in order of preference, whether or not they wanted to see the Victory Blue uniform worn at home more often, and what their current feel for the City Connect uniforms were. The Cardinals are due for an update on theirs soon, and fans got the chance to voice whether or not they wanted to see the current City Connect return or go in a new direction.

What will bring fans back to St. Louis is ultimately winning baseball. But the organization can really help win fans back if they move in that direction while having this kind of posture. Sure, fans can't dictate their decision-making all the time, but showing they are attentive to what fans are feeling and doing the best they can to put a great product on the field that fans are asking for is a massive step in the right direction.
