Today, will be a busy day for St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fans. The St. Louis Cardinals will have an afternoon game @ Busch Stadium with first pitch expected at 12:45 pm cst., meanwhile the St. Louis Blues will drop the puck for their first playoff game of 2015, around 8:30 pm ET on NBC Sports.

The Cardinals are looking to wrap up their series with the Milwaukee Brewers with a win, behind savvy veteran John Lackey who will be making his second start of the season against Mike Fiers.

More from Redbird Rants

His previous outing was last Friday against the Cincinnati Reds, an outing he would like to redeem this afternoon against Milwaukee. Lackey went 6 innings but allowed 4 runs, all of them earned, giving up 2 hr’s, walking 2 and striking out only 1.

The Cardinals, fresh off a 4-2 victory last night against the Brewers, in which manager Mike Matheny had to use 6 relievers in all due to Lance Lynn only being able to last 5 innings after accumulating 99 pitches are banking on Lackey being able to go deeper in the game today.

On the plus side, Lynn made his 99th career start for the St. Louis Cardinals, notching his 50th career win and most importantly contributed to the club’s victory after a loss Monday, the ball clubs 2015 home opener.

Yadier Molina had a direct hand in the St. Louis Cardinals victory going 3 for 4 with an RBI and raising his average to .240 amidst all the anxiety many fans and analysts have expressed over his slow start to the 2015 season offensively and behind the plate.

The Blues begin the postseason at Scottrade Center tonight against a game, and up-and-coming Minnesota Wild team that took the season series from the club but who at the same time, the Blues defeated on home ice just last weekend without many of their regulars in the season finale.

It should make for a fun and exciting day and one can only hope that both teams are as excited and ready to battle and come out with victories. Thanks for reading! #LetsGoBlues! LetsGoCards!
