The St. Louis Cardinals take on the Milwaukee Brewers in a Thursday afternoon game prior to hosting the Cincinnati Reds for a weekend series.

The Cardinals are currently tied for second in the National League Central with the Reds. Both teams are a half game back of the Chicago Cubs.

Right-handed pitcher John Lackey (0-0, 6.00 ERA) takes to the mound against Mike Fiers (0-1, 9.00 ERA) as the Cardinals hope to win the series this afternoon. This is the sixth career start for Lackey at Busch Stadium III as a Cardinal. The Cardinals won all five of his starts last season and he is nine strikeouts shy of reaching 1,800 strikeouts in his career. If he doesn’t reach the milestone today, he will do so in his next rotation turn.
