Daniel Descalso is non-tendered by the St. Louis Cardinals
It is the least surprising thing to happen this offseason.
The St. Louis Cardinals non-tendered infielder Daniel Descalso allowing the declining bench player to get a fresh, more consistent start elsewhere.
Jon Morosi of Fox Sports and MLB Network was first to report the news Tuesday evening:
I often referred to Descalso as Dirty Dan because his uniform was often filthy from his scrappy play. I’ll miss seeing him in a Cardinal uniform.

But I do believe this non-tender is the best move for both parties. Second base is occupied by
Kolten Wong.
Jhonny Peraltais at shortstop.
Matt Carpenteris the man at third base. And the team signed fellow infielder
Dean Annathis offseason so it’s likely he,
Pete Kozmaor
Greg Garciawould get the majority of play time off the bench.
Descalso would likely only get splinters on the bench with St. Louis whereas he could get an actual starting job with some other team.
Good luck to you Daniel! Hope you find success wherever you land!
