Cardinals fans' nightmares could be coming true with newest Angels' announcement

Stan Kroenke has purchased the Los Angeles Angels from longtime owner Arte Moreno, per Jon Heyman. And that move may impact Cardinals fans far more than you would think.

The deal was worth an Earth-shattering $4 billion and set a new record, formerly held at $3.9 billion by the sale of the San Diego Padres. 

For those of you wondering, ‘What does this have to do with the Cardinals?’ You’re in for a treat. 

Kroenke is a famous/infamous sports owner depending on which part of the globe he sits in. Whenever he prances through the streets of St. Louis, he might as well be a Bond villain. 

Kroenke owns the now-Los Angeles Rams, who were once the pride and joy of St. Louis football. 

During their tenure in The Lou, they won a Super Bowl, the stands were plenty full, and St. Louis upheld its title of “sports town” very aptly. 

Regardless of the success, dollar signs flooded Kroenke’s mind–who had his sights set on LA. 

Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and the big, booming West Coast were too much for the billionaire businessman to resist. And so, he uprooted the Rams and skipped town. 

Fans in The Lou were irate–and still are to this day. However, they were hopeful that would be the last of Stan Kroenke/St. Louis. This Angels development may have just changed everything. 

Cardinals fans’ worst nightmares could be coming true in Los Angeles, again 

It’s long been rumored that Albert Pujols is seen as a managerial fit for the Los Angeles Angels. 

Current manager Kurt Suzuki has done a serviceable job but is on a mere one-year deal. The lack of commitment to him in the first place always hinted that he was more of a band-aid option. 

The Angels need more than band-aids and flextape; they need surgery. 

This organization is rooted in falsehoods, stuck behind the curve, and drowning itself out through malpractice–be it the premature promotions of big-time prospects, poorly executed draft classes, or even worse free agent contracts; the Angels have been MLB’s favorite clown show for the last decade. 

This season, before the trade deadline, Los Angeles shook up its front office. 

Former Cardinals’ POBO John Mozeliak was the new Head of the Halos; thus is the first Cardinal tie. 

Now, with Kroenke, Mozeliak, and potentially Pujols joining forces, the Cardinals might be seeing the wrong kind of red very soon. 

Not too long ago, St. Louis lost its beloved Rams to LA. The last thing fans need during Chaim Bloom’s attempt to restructure is a second Pujols-to-LA bout. 

Fans have seen this movie before. They hated it then. They hate it now. And for some reason, even though Pujols won’t be swinging the bat, it still feels like a direct gut-punch that this is even possible. 

Thankfully, St. Louis seems to be in very capable hands with Bloom and his new staff. No matter where this situation lands, the Birds have a direction, and the Halos have their heads in the clouds. 

The one thing fans can cling to before any of the Pujols rumors solidify? St. Louis just got a new rival.
