St. Louis Cardinals: Thank you, Brewers, you are helping us
The St. Louis Cardinals have been losing of late. Many of these games are simply frustrating but in the Milwaukee series, the losses are actually helping make change.
The St. Louis Cardinals need to make changes and games won may not help with those decisions. We all know that I am hinting that Mike Matheny and John Mabry need to go. That said, when the St. Louis Cardinals win, this only provides John Mozeliak time to NOT make a decision.
Over the past three series, the St. Louis Cardinals have won only three games of the nine games played. That’s right, the 2018 Cardinals lost 2-of 3 against the Padres, lost 2-of-3 against the Cubs, and then lost 2-of-3 against the Phillies.
Each win, however, even though these racked up only 3-of-9, seemed to allow Mozeliak/Girsch time to do nothing. Enter then the Milwaukee series and the Cardinals have dropped the first two of this 4-game set.

While I never want to push for loses, the Milwaukee Brewers are actually doing the St. Louis Cardinals’ front office a favor by winning and I am okay with that. The more that this club loses, the better the chances that changes will be made.
Before I push on, let me say that I seriously doubt that Girsch/Mozeliak will make any changes. I agree with everyone in the Cardinals twittershpere who gnash teeth whenever I mention firing Matheny: Matheny isn’t the only one to blame and isn’t likely going anywhere anytime soon.
That pushed aside, if the Cardinals keep losing, the front office may have no other choice. And for that, we need to thank Milwaukee for their efforts.
Friday night’s game was scary for this argument as Jack Flaherty was unstoppable. Until Jesus got his at-bat. Tough to beat the son of God… The tie game almost confirmed that the Cardinals would lose. And that outcome did, in fact, come true.

While I was not happy to lose, I was happy to not win. This is not the way a fan should feel watching his/her favorite team, and yet this is how St. Louis Cardinals fans feel today.
So here we are then, the St. Louis Cardinals are still facing the Brewers and- in fact- are losing 1-2 as of the time of this writing with the game in the second inning. While I want the Cardinals to win, I feel that we fans need them to lose so that the front office is forced to make a decision.
And speaking of that decision, while I have urged for the firing of Matheny and Mabry, I now feel that this is the wrong place to put the target. I now believe that DeWitt must make the difficult decision to fire Mozeliak and/or Girsch should either refuse to fire Matheny/Mabry.

So, for the time-being, I must issue thanks to the Milwaukee Brewers for winning two games and leading in the third of the contest. Still, my heart says, Go Cards!
