After a postponement on Sunday, the Redbirds were set for a double header against the Salt Lake Bees on Monday. The Redbirds made the most of it. Tyler Lyons pitched a masterful game in Game 1 in route to a 2-0 win and then the hitters came to play in Game 2 in an 8-2 win. The Redbirds move to .500, 26-26 on the season.
The Redbirds started the scoring in the bottom of the second in Game 1 when Alex Mejia grounded out to score Xavier Scruggs to gain an early 1-0 lead. Travis Tartamella added an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to make it 2-0 which would be the final score of Game 1.
In minor league double headers both games only play seven innings and Tyler Lyons pitched all seven of those innings in Game 1. He only surrendered three hits, no runs, and had five strikeouts. Lyons moves to 4-2 on the year.
