When the club announced the 25-man playing roster, it became clear that some of the players acquired this season have likely played their last game in a St. Louis Cardinals uniform. Not surprisingly, Justin Masterson and A.J. Pierzynski were left off the roster. With Molina taking up most of the playing time behind the plate after his return to the Cardinals, there’s no reason to carry Pierzynski since the team already has Cruz. Cruz is unlikely to play much as it is.

After being called up in September, Kozma has replaced Mark Ellis on the roster. Ellis signed with the Cardinals as a free agent during the offseason. With his contract expiring after the 2014 season, it seems unlikely that he will be playing with the club next year.

The outfield is business as usual.

The Cardinals 25-man Division Series roster is as follows:

Pitchers (12): Randy Choate-LHP, Sam Freeman-LHP, Marco Gonzales-LHP, John Lackey-RHP, Lance Lynn-RHP, Seth Maness-RHP, Carlos Martinez-RHP, Shelby Miller-RHP, Pat Neshek-RHP, Trevor Rosenthal-RHP, Michael Wacha-RHP, Adam Wainwright-RHP;
