Cardinals 3 – Reds 0

The Cardinals Win Another Big One To Take The Lead In The Central

Complete Recap

Cardinals fans got what we have been dying to see out of our second starter Jake Westbrook. Jake went a full 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits and 0 ER, lowering his ERA to 7.40. Salas, Sanchez and Boggs helped him coming out of the pen to keep the shutout intact and give the Cardinals the win in the series finale.

Brandon Phillips again played the role of public enemy #1, the fans were definitely not afraid to let him hear it. After blowing up his twitter the last few days taunting the fans and just dogging the city of St. Louis in general, he ended the series on a high note getting 2 of the teams four hits.

Yadier proved to be just what the Cardinals needed with his first home run of the season, a three run shot that just barely skipped right over the wall in left center in the bottom of the 6th.

Aroldis Chapman threw a ball that went behind Yadier his next at bat, bringing massive boos from the rain soaked fans. Both teams received warnings, given their recent past with Yadi, this was definitely a precaution to keep any type of confrontations or fights from occuring.

The Cardinals now enjoy a day off before their series in Houston begins Tuesday night.
