St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was voted as the Face of the Cardinals by MLB Network viewers. The results were announced this morning on Hot Stove. Molina won with a whopping 71% of the vote. This is the second consecutive win for Molina, who won last year with 74% of the vote.

The rest of the vote went as follows:
Adam Wainwright 7%
Matt Carpenter 2%
Pete Kozma 2%
Stan Musial 1%

Others receiving votes included John Mozeliak, Ozzie Smith, and the Rally Squirrel.

I can understand Wainwright, Carpenter, Musial, and Smith receiving votes but, for the life of me, I cannot explain the votes that were tweeted in favor of Kozma and the Rally Squirrel. Torty Craig would be a more likely face than the Rally Squirrel.

The only thing I can think regarding the tweets for Kozma is that they were being voted on by fans of other teams or they were from Kozma’s hometown. There’s no other reason to have been voting for Kozma.

The question I have is where were the votes for first baseman Allen Craig? From a position player standpoint, he’s in the new MV3 with Carpenter and Molina. With what he did to drive in base runners this past season, he should have definitely gotten some votes instead of Kozma.
