Well, because I don’t subscribe to MLB Network, I didn’t have an opportunity to watch the disaster that was Lance Lynn. But the score sure wasn’t pretty. Today, the Cardinals desperately need to turn their offense on and actually beat Francisco Liriano.

You’ve already heard it: Liriano is 3-0 with a disgusting 0.75 ERA this year against the Cardinals. It looks grim for the Cardinal hitters.

Luckily, we get to use our (not-so-)secret weapon: Joe Kelly. He’s been very good this year, but has also handled the Pirates well, going 3-1 with a 2.53 ERA against them in 6 appearances (3 starts). Even at PNC Kelly has held his own, posting a 2-0 record with an 0.69 ERA in 3 appearances (2 starts) on Pirate turf.

Basically, we have to hope that Kelly is as good as he can be and handles the postseason pressure well, while Liriano suffers a bad outing (and he’s had a few this year). If our offense can get fired up and silence that loud Pittsburgh crowd, I think the Cardinals could have a good shot at taking NLDS Game 3.

I certainly hope so, ’cause I don’t want to start the do-or-die any earlier than we have to.

Let’s go St. Louis!!!
