Lance Lynn pitched 7 innings for the Cards, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, and struck out 7. Lynn picked up his 11th win of the season and now has a 3.67 ERA.

Trevor Rosenthal and Edward Mujica pitched in relief. Rosenthal allowed 2 hits and struck out 2 batters in the eighth inning. Mujica notched his 23rd save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.

Matt Holliday put the Cards on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning.

The Cards added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning. With bases loaded, Matt Carpenter scored on a sac fly off the bat of Allen Craig. With David Freese striking out while swinging, Carlos Beltran strole home and Matt Holliday stole third. Those would be all the runs that the Cardinals would need for the day to win the game.

Yadier Molina, still bothered by his knee, did not play. He is expected to play on Tuesday.
