All in all, the Cardinals managed 7 runs on 13 hits. Several with multi-hit performances, too.

Matt Carpenter, the leadoff man, had a 3 for 5 day at the plate and added 2 more runs on the season.

Matt Holliday was 2 for 4 at the plate with 1 run and 2 RBIs last night.

Allen Craig had a perfect day at the plate. He reached base all four times, going 3 for 3 with a walk. He scored twice but didn’t drive anyone home.

Yadier Molina was 1 for 4 with a run.

Jon Jay added an RBI.

Jaime Garcia got the win as he pitched 5.1 innings. He allowed 6 hits, all 6 runs, 1 walk, and struck out 5. All 6 runs came as a result of two 3-run home runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

He was relieved by Seth Maness and Trevor Rosethal. Maness pitched 1.2 innings and Rosenthal went an inning. Both allowed a hit each and struck out a batter.

Edward Mujica pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 12th save of the season.
