Musings from an Optimistic Redbird Fan

Dear Santa,

Before I submit my Christmas list, let me remind you, I’ve been good this year. Not only did I spread St. Louis Cardinal cheer with my Redbirds of a Feather Podcast but I also now regularly “blog” about the Cardinals on the Redbird Rants site. I have cheerfully and optimistically (see the title) kept Cardinal Nation informed of what’s happening with the Cardinals along with my fellow bloggers on this site. So, I hope you’ll get these 10 things for me; I don’t even have to have them all on Christmas Day but, I hope to

have them before the baseball season ends…hint, hint.

  1. World Series Championship in 2013
  2. Re-signing of Kyle Lohse
  3. A healthy Raphael Furcal
  4. Breakout year for Jon Jay
  5. A career year for Carlos Beltran
  6. David Freese as starter for All Star Game in 2013 at 3B
  7. Rookie of the year for Oscar Taveras
  8. Cardinals lead the MLB in offense
  9. Cardinals lead the MLB in pitching

10. A Cardinal Pitcher wins the Cy Young Award

Annoying – I’m getting pretty tired of seeing other players on the St. Louis Post Dispatch website, who are not Cardinal players. How many days did we have a Pittsburgh Pirate player on the website? Too long if you ask me; heck, why even have his picture on the site. I maintain, the Post Dispatch should relegate that kind of news towards the bottom of the page as they usually do. The fact that the Pirates have not won in years is NOT headline news if you’re a Cardinal Fan.

Spring – The Cardinals first full squad workout for spring training is Feb 16 and their first spring training game is Feb 23 against Miami.

Prayers – Remember the victims’ families of the Sandy Hook incident in your prayers this holiday season. Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays.
