Cardinals get an ace and a shortstop from the Guardians

Submitted by @BrentGossett4

Cardinals receive: RHP Shane Bieber and SS Amed Rosario

Guardians receive: SS Maysn Winn, RHP Gordon Graceffo, and OF/DH Alec Burleson

Grade: D+

First off, grabbing both Shane Bieber and Amed Rosario would be an awesome trade for the Cardinals. Unforuntaely, with the Guardians not looking to trade Bieber yet, I think this package alone would not even net their ace, let alone a deal that has Rosario in it as well.

Bieber is 27-yeard old and coming off of a 13-8 season with a 2.88 ERA and 198 SO in 200 innings of work. Bieber is under team control through the 2024 season, and it sounds like the Guardians want to make at least one more run with him before they move on from Bieber in a trade.

Rosario is a free agent after the 2023 season and batted .283/.312/.403 with 11 HR and 71 RBI for Cleveland this last year. He would be a quality bat to add to the Cardinals order and provide good defense at shortstop as well. Both players would be awesome gets for St. Louis, but there is no way the Guardians do this.

If Cleveland is struggling come the trade deadline, a package like this could net the Cardinals Bieber. I am sure fans do not like seeing Maysn Winn’s name in this conversation, but at this juncture, it would take a prospect like him to get the Guardians to listen.
