6 standouts in Cardinals sweep of Yankees

Paul DeJong’s star shines against New York
In the bottom of the eighth inning Friday, DeJong knocked a double on a sharp line drive to right field, scoring Nolan Arenado and Tyler O’Neill. DeJong go ahead double got down and past Aaron Judge in right field, leading him to chase as Arenado and O’Neill were able to score.
On Sunday, DeJong scored in the second inning thanks to a double off the bat of Dylan Carlson to center field.
In the sixth inning, DeJong doubled to right field to score Lars Nootbaar. DeJong scored on a single from Tommy Edman to centerfield. The ruling on the field was that DeJong was out at home but upon further review it was apparent that DeJong avoided the tag. Edman moved up to second base during the play. Edman scored after Paul Goldschmidt was walked with the bases loaded.

In the eighth inning, DeJong blasted his fourth home run of the season on a fly to left field, scoring Arenado and Tyler O’Neill allowing the Cardinals to take the lead for good with 12 runs. The home run traveled 387 feet at 102.8 mph.
