Will the managerial change pay dividends?

Following a mostly disappointing season saved by the historic win streak, former Manager Mike Shidlt was let go by St. Louis in favor for Bench Coach Oli Marmol. Shildt recently shared more of his thoughts on his firing, and there remains a bit of a cloud around what played into that decision.

Regardless, St. Louis Cardinals fans should be eager to see what Marmol brings as the club’s new skipper. Marmol has been intentional about setting the culture for the clubhouse during Spring Training, and the change in leadership could be the jolt the club needs to be a consistent force the entire season. It will be interesting to see how the youngest manager in baseball leads a club that has a good mix of established veterans and young guns.

If the club struggles early on though, there will no doubt be those who question the change, meaning it would be huge for Marmol’s club to get off to a hot start.
