Craig Kimbrel

With 10 years of service, Craig Kimbrel, 33, was 4-5 with 24 saves between his time with the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox in 2021.

The righty with a unique delivery relies on two pitches, a four-seam fastball, and a curveball. He had 100 strikeouts this season and a 35% swinging-strike rate in 59.2 innings and 63 games.

Kimbrel definitely doesn’t fit the Cardinals typically mold of pitcher they seek out. But with that delivery, the Gold Glove-winning defense behind him, Molina behind the plate, and working alongside him with Maddux, it could be an intriguing fit. One that would kind of get him back on track to the form we’ve seen from him in his earlier years with the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox.

A short-term deal with incentives would be an intriguing option for the Cardinals to land Kimbrel. He has long stymied batters. Why not stymie batters with a Cardinals jersey on your back?
