Opening Day is finally here and the St. Louis Cardinals are facing off against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 7:15 PM at Busch Stadium.

Opening Day, the best unofficial national holiday, is here, and the St. Louis Cardinals are starting the year off with three games against the Pirates at home.

Jack Flaherty will be facing off against Joe Musgrove in what will hopefully be the first win of the 60-game season as the Redbirds start their defense of the NL Central crown.

Before the start of the game tonight, we have all the info preceding the game so you are up to date and ready to go for game time.

Viewing options

The Cardinals game begins at 7:15 PM on Fox Sports Midwest, marking the first time we have had the entire crew call a regular season game since September 29 of 2019.

The game will be available for streaming on the Fox Sports Go app if you have a provider login as well.

As far as the TV deals between Sinclair (the owner of the regional Fox Sports networks) and Dish, Sling, and Xfinity, only Xfinity (Comcast owned) has been able to renew their deal with Sinclair to carry Fox RSN’s.

Both Dish and Sling TV have not yet been able to come to an agreement with Sinclair to carry Fox Sports Midwest.

If you have one of those providers, you can go to r/mlbstreams and find the game.

As always, the game will also be broadcasted on 1120 AM KMOX by the great Mike Shannon.

Starting Lineups

Earlier this week, I predicted what the starting lineup would be, and it turns out that’s what the lineup will be. Backing up Jack Flaherty will be the following lineup:

  1. Kolten Wong, 2B
  2. Tommy Edman, 3B
  3. Paul Goldschmidt, 1B
  4. Paul DeJong, SS
  5. Matt Carpenter, DH
  6. Yadier Molina, C
  7. Dexter Fowler, RF
  8. Tyler O’Neill, LF
  9. Harrison Bader, CF

Some of you may be mad at this lineup, but remember, between 8, 9, 1, 2, the Cardinals have players ranked in the 99th, 97th, 67th, and 96th percentile in sprint speed. If they get on base, it’ll make for a lot of fun. There aren’t really any other surprises here.

The Cardinals have done pretty well against Joe Musgrove in the past though.

For the Pirates, they will look like this:

  1. Kevin Newman, SS
  2. Bryan Reynolds, LF
  3. Adam Frazier, 2B
  4. Josh Bell, 1B
  5. Colin Moran, 3B
  6. Jose Ozuna, DH
  7. Guillermo Heredia, RF
  8. Jacob Stallings, C
  9. Jarrod Dyson, CF

The Pirates lineup, outside of Bell, doesn’t have a ton of power but it does have contact potential and speed. However, the Cardinals will certainly face scarier lineups at different points this season.

Next. The new playoff format could save the team in 2020. dark

The stage is set for a beautiful Opening Day, but it will be a different one without the normal festivities and fans. Every game this season counts for 2.7 wins in a normal year, let’s just hope the Cardinals get the season going with a win.
