The final series of the season is upon us and the St. Louis Cardinals are in a tough spot. What are our contributors thinking as the weekend nears?

Depending on how you look at it, this is either one of the best or worse times of the year. For the St. Louis Cardinals, the season is soon to be over and they have a playoff spot in hand. While they own the division lead, the Brewers are coming up fast and the Cardinals have just three games against the Cubs left to try and keep the Brewers at bay.

It will be sad to soon not have the almost-daily promise of Cardinals baseball but instead, the playoff dance begins. As fans know, the Cardinals are making their first return to the playoffs since 2015. But why does it feel so gloomy around here?

The Cardinals just took a series from the Nationals before sweeping the Cubs at home and then stumbled in a very odd series out West against the Diamondbacks. They lost a 19-inning game and the day game that followed while the Brewers won both days.

Thursday the sky seems to be falling, but should it be? That is what our great writers here at Redbird Rants will be discussing. Due to availability, we have four of our writers (myself included) contributing to this piece to just get a litmus test of how everyone is feeling heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

Without further delay, let’s dive in.
