The latest in a long line of standout prospects to come out of the St. Louis farm system, second baseman Kolten Wong has been a major reason why the Cardinals have enjoyed a high level of success this season.

The 24-year-old Wong is batting .311/.363/.485 through 37 games this season for the first-place Redbirds – a major step in the right direction after batting just .249 in 2014. In addition to his impressive slash-line, the Hawaiian has also clubbed five homers and driven in 18 runs – adding six doubles and 19 runs in the process.

The former first-round pick has hit a cold spell in the last week, as he’s batting just .182/.280/.318 in his last 22 at-bats. Even with that rough stretch considered, he’s still carrying a .340 mark in the last month – demonstrating just how good he’s been with the bat.

It appears as if Wong is finally putting it all together at the Major League level in just his third season with St. Louis. If he maintains this production, don’t be surprised to see him in the All-Star game this July in Cincinnati.
