Sam Freeman Traded To Texas, According To Reports

According to reports, St. Louis Cardinals LHP Sam Freeman has been traded to the Texas Rangers for a player to named later or cash. While we do not know what the Cardinals will get in return it is not surprising to hear of this news. The writing has been on the wall for Sam since the beginning of the spring with Kevin Siegrist having a much better spring. Sam has shown flashes of being a dominant LH reliever but has had issues throwing strikes at times, so with Siegrist and Randy Choate in the fold his inconsistency has led to this trade.

It is early to judge as to won the trade without knowing what the Cardinals have received but it is clear that it is a move that was made due to the pitching depth this team has. This is not the only move the Cardinals have been rumored to make. Rumors have been circulating around the Jaime Garcia scenario with Carlos Martinez looking ready to take his spot in the rotation. So, keep an eye out for other potential moves from the Cardinals great pitching depth.
