Upon their return to St. Louis after the NLCS, Daniel Descalso and Peter Bourjos talked about their future as the Hot Stove season began last week. A number of players opened up to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch about their futures with the club.
Daniel Descalso to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
“We’ll see what happens. Obviously I didn’t get a chance to play a lot this year. There wasn’t a lot of opportunity. I don’t know if there is going to be any more opportunity going forward here. I would like that chance to play. I don’t know what they’re going to do.”
Peter Bourjos to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
"The season “was up and down,” Bourjos said. “And that kind of went with the playing time, too. Inconsistent playing time, inconsistent results — that’s how it goes sometimes. If there’s an opportunity out there, I’d like to play every day.”"
John Lackey to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
“Great experience here. Obviously it didn’t end the way we’d like it to. No complaints at all. A lot of young guys that will be back, and they’re big contributors. Definitely don’t see why not. The reason I came here was I had every intention of playing next year.”
Lackey, who came over from the Boston Red Sox, has said he will honor the $500,000 option should the team pick it up.
