Lance Lynn takes to the mound against Dodgers starter Ricky Nolasco.
This is the 3rd postseason for Lynn. He allowed 5 runs against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 2 of the NLDS in 4.1 innings pitched. Against the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS, he picked up the win after throwing scoreless innings in the 12th and 13th innings prior to Beltran’s walk-off hit. During the 2011 NLCS, Lynn threw 5.1 innings in 5 scoreless relief appearances.
During the 2012 postseason, Lynn appeared in 3 games against the Washington Nationals, where he pitched 3.1 innings. He went on to start Games 1 and 5 of the NLCS against the San Francisco Giants.
In the regular season, Lynn had a career-high 33 starts and pitched over 200 innings with 19 quality starts.
He went 9‐3 with 2.82 ERA in 16 starts at home while recording a 6‐7 record with a 5.15 ERA over 17 starts on the road. In the area of his season that scares many fans entering tonight, Lynn was 11-4 in 19 starts before the All-Star break while going 4-6 in 14 starts after the break.
However, he rebounded during the month of September by allowing 7 earned runs (8 overall) in 5 September starts with a 2.12 ERA–the lowest monthly ERA for Lynn this season.
Overall, the Cards are 41‐23 in Lynn’s 64 career starts, including 19‐14 this past year.
