In Miller’s start on Friday, he was virtually flawless. He gave up one hit to Eric Young to lead off the game and took care of business for the next 27 batters. He struck out a career-high 13 batters. With this gem of a game, the rookie moves to 5-2 this season with a 1.58 ERA. He has 51 strikeouts in the 2013 campaign, which places him in the top 10 for National League pitching. It may have been the best game for a Cardinal pitcher ever.

On Friday, both Yadier Molina and Carlos Beltran had multi-hit games. Beltran notched his 9th home run of the season.

This afternoon, Adam Wainwright took a no-hitter into the 8th inning. It was broken up in the 8th inning by Nolan Arenado on a single to center. Dexter Fowler had the other hit in the top of the 9th inning.

Wainwright’s gem of a game saw him walk one and strike out 7. He has now struck out 55 batters this season. Wainwright, like Miller, is now at 5-2 this season with a 2.30 ERA.

Several players had multi-hit games today. Allen Craig was perfect at the plate with a 3 for 3 day, raising his average to .302 this season. Molina added another 2 hits for a .351 batting average. Molina’s .351 leads the Cardinals and has him ranked in 3rd in the league.

In other Cardinals related news, Chris Carpenter was throwing in the bullpen yesterday and very well might pitch again this season.
