Could the St. Louis Cardinals make some moves?

The one thing I hate about the Hot Stove season is when I hear that the Cardinals are looking at moving players to another team.

There is talk that the Cardinals are moving Joe Kelly, Matt Carpenter, and Lance Lynn to the Cleveland Indians in return for Asdrubal Cabrera.

I’m not a fan of this potential trade. It’s too steep in my opinion to give up three players for one shortstop. Cabrera’s current deal with the Cleveland Indians has him signed through the end of the 2014 season.

I get that he is a short stop, a position which is hurting the Cardinals of late. While I like that he is a two-time All-Star these past two seasons. With the reports of who the Cardinals would move, it’s just too much to give up.

IfJoe Kelly is not in the starting rotation during the next season for the Cardinals, he will be doing the dirty week in relief. However, I believe that there is a good chance that he will be fighting for one of the positions.

If the Cardinals do indeed wish to trade Lance Lynn to another team, I can say that I am fine with that. I like the guy and all but his second half of the season was not all that strong compared to the first half.

As for Matt Carpenter if he gets moved, it means that Matt Adams probably sees a substantial role next season although if Carpenter does not get moved, he could be the next super-utility player for the Cardinals and have a role similar to Skip Schumaker.
