The Positives
- Jon Jay hit a single and scored one of the Cardinals runs.
- Allen Craig had three hits including two doubles. He now has 24 doubles on the season. Craig scored two of the Cardinals four runs.
- Matt Holliday also picked up three hits including his 22nd home run. He drove in three runs with his blast.
- Carlos Beltran hit a single and drove in a run.
- Yadier Molina had two hits including his 22nd double.
- Jake Westbrook pitched seven and two thirds innings and only gave up one earned run. He gave up four hits and two walks.
- Marc Rzepczynski and Jason Motte pitched a perfect inning and a third to close the game out. Motte struck out two to earn his 26th save.
Justin’s Jeers
- David Freese, Rafael Furcal, and Ryan Jackson were held hitless.
- Jackson got his first start as a Cardinal but was placed at second base. I am not a fan of the Cardinals mantra of switching players position upon call-up. Playing Jackson at second when he is a natural shortstop does not set him up for success.
Three Stars
3) Jake Westbrook – The Cardinals probably don’t win without Westbrook’s quality start.
2) Allen Craig- Craig had a three hit night and scored half of the Cardinals runs.
1) Matt Holliday – Holliday had three hits and a three-run home run to lead the way for the Cardinals.
