Daily Rant: The Doctor operates on the Cardinals

With match-ups against Ryan Vogelsong, Madison Bumgarner, and Roy Halladay in their last three games, the Cardinals haven’t exactly had a favorable challenge. They struggled against the Cy Young winner and ended up losing 3-1.

The Positives
- Jon Jay hit a single to continue his hitting streak.
- Allen Craig hit his 22nd double of the season.
- Carlos Beltran hit a solo shot and a single. The home run was his 28th of the season.
- Kyle Lohse went seven strong innings. He only gave up one earned run and allowed six base runners.
Justin’s Jeers
- Barrett Browning pitched the eighth and gave up a two-run home run that ended up being the winning run.
- Matt Holliday, David Freese, Yadier Molina, Daniel Descalso, and Rafael Furcal were all stifled by the Phillies pitching staff.
Three Stars
3) Allen Craig – Craig hit a double but no one could knock him in.
2) Kyle Lohse – Lohse did everything to keep the Cardinals in the game but was outdueled.
