The Positives

  • Allen Craig his a single and his 19th double of the season. He also scored one of the Cardinals nine runs.
  • Matt Holliday hit two singles and drove in a run. The RBI was his 76th of the season, which ties him with teammate Carlos Beltran for the league lead.
  • Carlos Beltran hit his 17th double and scored a run.
  • David Freese hit a two RBI single and scored a run. He now has 61 RBIs on the year.
  • Yadier Molina hit three singles and scored two runs. He also flashed some of his dazzling speed, adding two steals to his season total. He astoundingly has ten steals.
  • Daniel Descalso hit a single and his sixth double to drive in two runs. He also scored a run.
  • Shane Robinson got the start in center field and hit a single and scored a run.
  • Barrett Browning, Edward Mujica, Mitchell Boggs, and Marc Rzepczynski combined for three and a third scoreless innings to close the game out.

Justin’s Jeers

  • Joe Kelly fell just short of continuing his quality start streak. He only lasted five and two thirds, but only gave up three earned runs. With ten hits and two walks, the damage could have been a lot worse.
  • Rafael Furcal went hitless at the top of the order. He did draw a walk and scored a run, though.

Three Stars

3) David Freese – Freese drove in two runs to help put the game out of reach.

2) Daniel Descalso – Descalso also drove in two runs in a two-hit effort.

1) Yadier Molina – Yadi had a 3-3 night, scored two runs, and stole two bases.
