The Positives
- Rafael Furcal hit a single and was one of the few Cardinals without an RBI.
- Daniel Descalso hit a single and scored a run.
- Matt Holliday picked up two hits including his seventeenth home run of the season. He’s challenging Carlos Beltran‘s lead in RBIs with 64 on the season.
- Allen Craig also had two hits including his eighteenth double. He drove in his 50th run of the season.
- David Freese was a perfect 3-3. He recorded two RBIs and scored two runs.
- Skip Schumaker ended up coming into the game when Freese left with an injury and he went a perfect 2-2.
- Matt Carpenter had a three hit night and recorded his 22nd RBI.
- Tony Cruz hit two singles and drove in two runs.
- Jon Jay picked up a single and a walk.
- Jake Westbrook recorded a quality start, going seven innings and only allowing three earned runs.
- Mitchell Boggs and Jason Motte closed the game out, with Boggs pitching a scoreless inning and Motte striking out the side in the ninth to record his 22nd save.
Justin’s Jeers
- The only real complaint is the injury to Freese. The Cardinals have serious health issues this year. It’s scary to think how good this team would be if everyone had stayed healthy all year.
Three Stars
3) Allen Craig – Craig scored two of the Cardinals runs and drove in another with a double.
2) Matt Holliday – Holliday hit another home run and scored two runs of his own.
1) David Freese- Freese had a great night even without finishing the game.
