Daily Rant: Cardinals take first game with blowout victory

The Cardinals traveled to Kauffman Stadium to take on the Royals in the first game of a three game series last night. After a huge second inning, the Cardinals jumped out to a commanding lead and held on for the 11-4 win. Find out who did well after the jump.

The Positives
- Rafael Furcal hit a single and scored two runs for the Cardinals. His average is not sitting a .289.
- Jon Jay hit a single in his first game back from injury and also scored two runs. He also made a lot of great plays in the field.
- Matt Holliday had a three hit night and scored a run.
- Carlos Beltran hit two doubles which drove in four runs. He also scored two runs himself.
- Yadier Molina had a two hit night, scored a run, and drove in another. He also stole his seventh base.
- David Freese had three hits, two RBIs, and a run. He also stole his first base of the season.
- Matt Carpenter had a single and a double in his first game back from injury. He scored two runs and drove in another.
- Tyler Greene hit a double to drive in two runs.
- Skip Schumaker rounded things out for the Cardinals, as every starter had a hit. Schumaker’s double drove in a run.
- Joe Kelly pitched a quality start. He gave up three through six innings and gave up nine hits. His only real mistake was the home run given up to Salvador Perez.
- Sam Freeman and Eduardo Sanchez combined for two scoreless innings. The only blemish was a walk allowed by Freeman.
Justin’s Jeers
- Offensively, the Cardinals didn’t give much to complain about, but, as usual, they left a ton of men stranded. 21 base runners were left on base, with Tyler Greene leading the way with four runners left on.
- Fernando Salas gave up an earned run on two hits and a walk.

2) David Freese – Freese had a three hit night and drove in two runs.
1) Carlos Beltran – Beltran’s four RBI night led the way for the Cardinals.
