Daily Rants: Cardinals shut down by dominant Clayton Kershaw.

The Cardinals had another late game in Los Angeles last night and faced reigning Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw. The results weren’t pretty as Kershaw showed why he was one of the best in the game. How did Jake Westbrook fare against the Dodger bats?
Westbrook actually fared well against a fairly weak Dodger lineup. He gave up six hits and a walk through six and a third innings. Unfortunately, he gave up runs in the fourth and seventh innings and left the game down 4-0. Eduardo Sanchez, who had performed strongly since being called up last week, gave up two earned runs in two thirds of an inning to put the Cardinals down 6-0. Brandon Dickson made his first big league appearance since being called up to take Kyle McClellan‘s spot. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Unfortunately, this game was all Clayton Kershaw. He only allowed six hits through nine innings and shut the Cardinals out. Carlos Beltran and Shane Robinson each picked up a hit, while Matt Holliday and Yadier Molina recorded two. It was all for naught, however, as Kershaw was just too dominant for the Cardinals.
