Cardinal Madness! Final Four

What a huge day! Not only is it Opening Day, but it’s time to post the Final Four for Cardinal Madness. The results from the third round were very interesting as we had three match-ups that were determined by two votes or less and one shutout. The most interesting part to me is that we are left with four teams that are all from different decades. The Final Four features three World Series champions and a National League pennant winner. Details for both match-ups after the jump.
(9) 1964 vs (13) 2004
The 1964 team pulled off easily the biggest upset of the entire tournament, knocking off the number one seed 1942 team with 52% of the vote, proving once again that the Redbird Rants readers do not like the ’40s. The 2004 team defeated the 1967 team with 52% of the vote as well. Can the 2004 team make up for losing to the Red Sox in the World Series by defeating another team from the 60s?

(2) 1944 vs (11) 1934
The 1944 team continued its dominating run towards the championship with a sweep of the 1926 team. The 1934 squad beat the 2005 team with 54% of the vote. Interestingly, all teams in the Final Four come from years that end in four. Which of these two teams will march “four”ward (very bad, I know) into the championship?
