For those of you living under a rock, the Cardinals have come out of hibernation to put up an almost unparalled offense for the fourth straight game.
Cardinals fans cannot help but be overjoyed and optimistic headed out of the desert and into So Cal for the upcoming series with LA. The Cardinals keep putting up more and more points every game and are showing teams what they are truly made of. Sure this last series was against a more or less revamped Diamondbacks team looking to find an identity, but to do what has happened Wednesday night is nonetheless impresssive.
Lance Berkman had his 4th HR in three games, Pujols is finally getting on base almost every at bat, Colby is continuing to make his name known as the most underrated centerfielder, Theriot is showing his worth, and (maybe most imporatantly) Jake Westbrook seems to be giving up a little less in every appearance. Jake is still sitting on a 7.63 ERA by the time he was pulled for Miguel Batista, but the important thing is he is improving (really couldn’t have been much worse, but we sunk the money into him and have to take what we can get).
Once again though, I have to reemphasize the importance of Albert. He is back to getting on base constantly and looking more and more like that $30 million a year he is going to command this offseason. At first you had to think maybe the whole contract scenario was becoming a bigger distraction than he led on, but looking at the last two games he seems to be setting the bar for the rest of his season.
Next up the Cardinals look to travel to LA to take on the Dodgers. Luckily the only thing the Dodgers have really been known for this season is their vicious fans that beat up on Giants fans in the parking lot. We look to continue this streak going on to Dodger Stadium and their tough pitching staff, luckily we have the heavy hitters of our pitching staff in line to face off with the likes of Clayton Kershaw and Chad Billingsley.
