In his first game of the season, Jaime Garcia came through for the Redbirds in an outstanding showing.

Complete Recap 04/03/2011

Garcia (1-0 0.00 ERA) pitched his second career complete game. He totaled 9IP, 9K’s, 2 BB’s and 4 hits given up. This proved very promising as he had a shut down day to finally help keep the Padres at bay on the strength of Yadier Molina’s RBI single in the Bottom of the 5th and later Ryan Theriot’s RBI in the 8th.

The Cardinals (1-2) finally showed some promise and looked fantastic on field to clinch their first season victory. Runs obviously were not at a premium, but Jaime came in to pitch his heart out and show what our pitching staff is really made of. This will hopefully prove to be our early turning point that will get this club motivated and ready to pick up some major W’s.

The Cardinals now look to start their next stint of the homestand against the Pittsburgh Pirates for the next three games.
