A 17-year-old Phillies fan was tasered after running onto the field Monday night during the eighth inning of the game between Philadelphia and St. Louis. He jumped from the stands and ran around the outfield before a police officer used a Taser to subdue him. The kid appeared to be harmless and Phillies players seemed to be amused rather than threatened by the situation, but the police chose to use force.

The police department is now investigating whether using the taser was the right move.

According to the AP, this is the first time a Taser has been used to handle a spectator on the field.

Philadelphia has a reputation for rowdy fans and the Cards got a little taste of a first in Philly history.

St. Louis won the showdown between the two best teams in the National League by a score of 6-3. The Cards appear to be the best team in the NL right now and get the chance to prove it over the next three nights in Philly. Tonight, Adam Wainwright and Cole Hamels square off on the mound. Looking ahead, Roy Halladay is slated to pitch Thursday against Kyle Lohse.
