Everyone loved Ozzie Smith’s Opening Day routine in St. Louis. He opened the season with style each year by performing his trademark backflip. After that, the city was doing backflips for more spectacular plays from the Wizard, who was the greatest shortstop of all-time. No other shortstop had his range, glove, or flair. He made everything look so easy. The backflip became almost as much of Ozzie’s legacy too. So, how does Brandon Ryan plan to compete with his legendary Opening Day theatrics? How bout a “flip” of the mustache? The starting shortstop for 2010 has become a very good defensive player in the past few years. He has also become a fan favorite as a character on this team. Tune in to see what the shortstop really has planned this afternoon for Opening Day in Cincinnati.
He worked extremely hard to be ready for today after having wrist surgery this offseason. Look for Ryan to continue to develop his game and become a top shortstop in baseball this season.
