The Cardinals seem to be back to their winning ways, and hope to get a jump start on their third straight series win tonight in LA. They’re currently seven games over .500, and just one game behind the division leading Chicago Cubs. They are 11-11 on the road this season. A victory in this series would ensure the Cards a winning road record when they return to St. Louis on Monday.
The pitching match-ups will feature Derek Lowe against Adam Wainwright in game one, followed by Brad Penny and Kyle Lohse tomorrow night, and Chad Billingsley facing Todd Wellemeyer in the only daytime start of the road trip on Sunday.
Rick Ankiel should be returning to the lineup tonight. He looked to be healthy in his only appearance of the week on Wednesday, where he entered the game as a pinch hitter in the eighth, and hit a two run homer.
I don’t see any reason the Cardinals shouldn’t win tonight. The ace is on the hill for the Birds, and Lowe hasn’t exactly been dominating for the Dodgers. He has a 5.34 ERA, and has only turned in three quality starts in his 10 games. In fact, he’s only made it through six innings four times.
Finally, check out Derrick Goold’s latest post concerning the actual distance of Albert Pujols’ monster home run on Monday. I found it interesting. You’ll find it here.
Go Cards!!
