On this final day of February 2014, the St. Louis Cardinals will open up Grapefruit League action against Roger Dean Stadium co-tenant Miami Marlins. In addition to Fox Sports Midwest, the game will also be available to watch on the MLB Network.

For Cardinals fans, this is the first opportunity to watch the team in game action for the first time since Game 6 of the 2013 World Series against the Boston Red Sox.

A lot has happened since October. David Freese and Fernando Salas were traded. Carlos Beltran, John Axford, and Edward Mujica left as free agents. The club acquired Peter Bourjos, Randal Grichuck, and Jhonny Peralta.

As previously mentioned, catcher Yadier Molina‘s innings behind the plate will be cut down during these early Spring Training games. However, the Cardinals will still be using his bat in the lineup as a designated hitter.

Today’s lineup:
1. Matt Carpenter, 3B
2. Kolten Wong, 2B
3. Allen Craig, RF
4. Matt Adams, 1B
5. Yadier Molina, DH
6. Peter Bourjos, CF
7. Shane Robinson, LF
8. Tony Cruz, C
9. Pete Kozma, SS
Carlos Martinez, P

As far as regulars go, this lineup is interesting in that neither Matt Holliday or Jhonny Peralta are starting. My guess is that Mike Matheny and John Mozeliak want to see what Robinson and Kozma can do this early in the year.
