Slow News Weekend…

It’s a slow news weekend in baseball. The Fall Meetings will soon be here in the next two weeks or so and it’s doubtful that the St. Louis Cardinals make any more moves. The Ford C. Frick Award for excellence in broadcasting will be announced by the Baseball Hall of Fame and Mike Shannon is one of the ten finalists for the award. The HOF has changed things up a bit similar to that of the Veterans Committee. If Shannon does not get the Frick this year, the next chance will be in three years from now.

Starting on Wednesday and leading all the way up to the Winter Warm Up, Fox Sports Midwest will air a weekly installment of Cardinals Hot Stove.

Bernie writes that the club is in position to pay for the free agent signing of shortstop Jhonny Peralta. It’s an excellent read and reminds us that the Cardinals will be a contender in October.

Bernie also explores the Hall of Fame ballot. I’ll be posting my thoughts here in the next week or so.

As for playing with the lineup, Bernie gives it his best go against both right and left-handed pitching.

Derrick Goold has a great read on Mike Roberts, the scout that advocated for Albert Pujols and evaluated Michael Wacha.
