Cardinals at Reds, Game 139 Thread

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to the game thread. I apologize for not having one yesterday. My computer was doing weird things and I couldn’t get the site to load at all. But we’re back tonight!

Yesterday was a really tough loss. Michael Wacha pitched well, Seth Maness gave up his thirteenth earned run of the season, and the Cardinals couldn’t put a run on the board.

Tonight, Shelby Miller and Bronson Arroyo go at it.

Shelby’s last outing against the Pirates was a rough one, and he appeared to be having some back pain in the middle innings. Hopefully, he’s feeling better and will be able to shut down the Reds. The Cardinals need to win these last two games in order to go 3-4 on this road trip and stay in the thick of things before heading home to face Pittsburgh again.

Luckily for the Cardinals, Arroyo is coming off a very rough outing where he gave up 6 runs in just 3.1 innings to the Colorado Rockies. In addition, he has yet to win a game this year against St. Louis, going 0-3 with a 5.96 ERA. That’s to add to his lifetime 8-16 record against the Redbirds.

Hopefully, Arroyo will have another bad day and the offense will rebound, while Shelby takes control on the mound.

Let’s go Cardinals!!!

    That ball was crushed.

Now, let’s win this thing. Let’s go, Mook.

  • Ovadia

Ludwick is on, and Hamilton is in. Molina wins this one.

  • Ovadia

1-1 and Hamilton still hasn’t gone yet.

  • Ovadia

Yadi almost got it. Batter interference

  • Ovadia

    Tie game.

  • Ovadia

    Dammit.

  • Ovadia

    Good play by Mujica.

  • Ovadia

4-6-3 double play and we’re into the fifteenth.

  • Ovadia

Wong beats that out. Now he needs to be standing on 2nd.

  • Ovadia

Ok, Wong on Second. 1-1 to Beltran.

  • Ovadia

And Beltran goes down swinging. The bottom of the fifteenth coming up.

  • Ovadia

Anybody still with me here? I know it’s getting late. Also: Martinez in to pitch the bottom of the fifteenth. Let’s hope he can handle it, I can’t take this loss.

  • Ovadia

    0-2 to Choo.

  • Ovadia

Wasn’t that the same place as the last pitch, which was a strike?

  • Ovadia

Base hit by Choo, that’s not what we wanted.

  • Ovadia

Choo on second after Phillips’ bunt. Here comes Votto. This game could be over. Or it could not.

  • Ovadia

Martinez up to 99 mph. Throwin’ smoke.

  • Ovadia

2-1. 99 on the gun again.

  • Ovadia

Choo advances, but Votto grounds out. Now there’s just Jay Bruce between Martinez and the end of the inning.

  • Ovadia

    And Bruce walks.

  • Ovadia

    99 mph strike.

  • Ovadia

    Ball, a bit low.

  • Ovadia

And Yadier’s quick thinking gets the Cards out of the inning! A messed up suicide squeeze gives the Cards another inning!

  • Ovadia

Holliday down swinging. Let’s see if Adams can do it again!

  • Ovadia

Holy . . . . and Adams hits his second of the night. Let’s see if we can make this one stick.

  • Ovadia

Yadi can’t get a hit to save his life. Oh well, and least he doesn’t have to crouch down more than another half inning.

  • Ovadia

    Martinez picks up a K.

  • Ovadia

AND THERE WE GO!!! Cardinals WIN!!!!!!!!

Ok. Good night. You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here. I’ll see you all tomorrow!
