Shelby Miller pitched seven strong innings as the Cards won 6-2 over the Braves. Miller had six strikeouts on the night. He allowed one run and three hits.

Trevor Rosenthal relieved him in the 8th inning. However, it took three relievers to finish the job in the ninth inning. Randy Choate, who started the inning, allowed one run and one hit. Seth Maness pitched to two batters and both reached base on hits. Finally, it was up to closer Edward Mujica. It took Mujica one batter but he got the job taken care of with a strike out.

Matt Carpenter led off the game with a home run. It was his 10th long ball of the season.

Carlos Beltran hit his 23rd homer of the season in the third inning.

The Cards added three more runs in the seventh inning. Holliday had a 2-run double that scored Shane Robinson and Carpenter. Molina singled and drove in Carpenter.

In the eighth inning, Beltran singled and drove in Robinson.
