St. Louis Cardinals center fielder Jon Jay is having one heck of a tear in the month of August. This should surely help the Cardinals down the stretch.

From the Cardinals media relations offices, here is what Jay is doing this month so far:
Batting .377 (7th NL)
15 RBI (T2nd NL)
26 hits (T1st)
8 doubles (T2nd)
11 runs (T8th)

Jay, Matt Holliday, and Matt Carpenter have all appeared in 17 games this month.

The .377 batting average this month has been helped by having 8 multi-hit games. This includes three games on which Jay had 3 hits, one 4-hit game, and another four games where the outfielder had 2 hits. Next to Jay’s 26 hits, Carpenter has 23 hits and Holliday has 21 hits.

Jay’s 8 doubles tie him with Beltran while teammate Carpenter has 9 of them this month.

Without Sunday’s home run against the Chicago Cubs, Jay does not even tie for second with 15 RBI. The home run and other at-bats on Sunday led to a 4-RBI day for the center fielder. Jay’s 15 RBI for the month of August leads Holliday (11) and Carpenter (10) on the team.

Jay’s 11 runs scored are just one run behind both Carpenter and Holliday, who each have scored 12 runs a piece.

Jay hit .284 in both May and July. In April, he batted .213 and June saw a .231 batting average.
