In the sixth inning, Freese doubled on a fly ball to center field. Craig would score and Molina advanced to third. Two batters later, Pete Kozma singled on a grounder to third and drove in Molina.

John Gast left the game in the second inning with shoulder tightness. He now joins many St. Louis Cardinal pitchers on the DL.

Joe Kelly relieved Gast for 3 innings and struck out 6 but allowed 5 hits, 2 runs, and 1 walk.

Carlos Martinez, Maness, Choate, and Boggs pitched in relief. Maness and Boggs allowed 1 run each to score.
