Could the St. Louis Cardinals make some moves?

The one thing I hate about the Hot Stove season is when I hear that the Cardinals are looking at moving players to another team.

There is talk that the Cardinals are moving Joe Kelly, Matt Carpenter, and Lance Lynn to the Cleveland Indians in return for Asdrubal Cabrera.

I’m not a fan of this potential trade. It’s too steep in my opinion to give up three players for one shortstop. Cabrera’s current deal with the Cleveland Indians has him signed through the end of the 2014 season.

I get that he is a short stop, a position which is hurting the Cardinals of late. While I like that he is a two-time All-Star these past two seasons. With the reports of who the Cardinals would move, it’s just too much to give up.

IfJoe Kelly is not in the starting rotation during the next season for the Cardinals, he will be doing the dirty week in relief. However, I believe that there is a good chance that he will be fighting for one of the positions.

If the Cardinals do indeed wish to trade Lance Lynn to another team, I can say that I am fine with that. I like the guy and all but his second half of the season was not all that strong compared to the first half.

As for Matt Carpenter if he gets moved, it means that Matt Adams probably sees a substantial role next season although if Carpenter does not get moved, he could be the next super-utility player for the Cardinals and have a role similar to Skip Schumaker.

To give up those 3 for a SS tht is by no means a “stud” would be insane on the Cardinals part. No deal!

If they have plans on getting more pitching somewhere else, or something we’re not seeing then do it but, I really like those guys. They’re going to be amazing once they’re sculpted.

I kind of like that deal. Losing Joe Kelly clears a space for a left handed reliever. Lance Lynn leaving leaves a rotation spot for either Shelby Miller or Trevor Rosenthal. Losing Matt Carpenter is the only part I don’t like. He’s too valuable as a utility guy. Trading Matt Adams makes more sense. The only position he can play is first and he is blocked by Allen Craig.

As an Indians fan, the discussion regarding a trade involving the Indian’s Asdrubal Cabrera & the Cardinal’s Lynn / Kelly /the Matts (Carpenter & Adams) should and will command at the very least one other significant addition if a trade of more than two for one is contemplated. Some of the scenarios include a wild blockbuster version where both teams exchange # 1 prospects (Francisco Lindor at SS / Oscar Taveras OF), the addition of Vinnie Pestano/Chris Perez, Jake Westbrook returning, concern over Jaime Garcia’s health, the resigning/return of Kye Lohse for a reasonable $$/Time Length, etc. etc. The only consensus that was reached was there is a fit..
