Lance Lynn, It’s Your Time Brother!

One of the most exciting Cardinals pitching prospects in recent history is making his first major league appearance tonight in St. Louis. He replaces Jaime Garcia’s start for a night to fill in Kyle McClellan’s role, Jaime will face the Cubs Friday night at Busch.

Lance Lynn is originally from Indiana. He chose Ole Miss over Tennessee and was drafted 39th overall by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2008 draft.

Minor League career thus far:
* 30 wins – 18 losses
* 3.72 ERA
* 401.1 Innings Pitched
* 388 Hits
* 188 Runs
* 166 Earned Runs
* 146 Walks

2008 – Quad City River Bandits
2008 – Batavia Muckdogs
2009 – Palm Beach Cardinals
2009 – Springfield Cardinals
2009 – 2011 Memphis Redbirds

This is the first time in recent memory Tony La Russa chose a young kid to spend his major league debut as the starter. Tony typically tends to make the young pitchers earn their stripes in the bullpen but for now looks to have a lot of faith in this young kid.

Being in Chris Maloney’s system in Memphis the last few years is good enough to mold any up and coming player, let’s hope this is no different. Good luck Lance!
