Holliday, McClellan Out On 15 Day DL

It actually happened…Holliday sat out the start the other night right after returning to the lineup only to end back up on the 15 day DL. It looked to be a precautionary measure since Jay and Craig have the hot bats of late, but it really turned out to be an injury re-aggravation. Matt is back on the DL with the same left quadriceps strain and looks to have a return date slated for mid June though he is listed day to day.

Our hot new starter Kyle McClellan will also be joining him in that club. Kyle has a left hip flexor strain and was officially added to the DL today as well.

Our obvious address is the pitching rotation. Today it was officially decided Lance Lynn and Maikel Cleto would both be coming to the big leagues to pick up some slack where help is needed most. Batting has been our strong point and pitching has been rocky but overall pretty good (with a few exceptions) thus far and we hope these two young pitchers can be effective.

Lance Lynn, 24, is one I am especially excited about. My girlfriend goes to Ole Miss and I have heard his name quite frequently since being drafted by the Cardinals from the Rebels in 2008. This is his first big league stint and he gets the opportunity to take the mound as starter.

Maikel Cleto, 22, comes to us from the AA affiliate Springfield Cardinals in his first major stint as well.

It will be interesting to see what more pitching youth will mean to us in the present day. Overall, our majors roster along with our farm clubs look pretty deep and talented.
