The injury bug bites the Cardinals early and often this year.

Today the Cardinals announced they are losing two more important role players in their lineup to injury early in the season. Both players have been placed on the the 15 day DL for the time being.

Skip Schumaker developed a right triceps strain last Friday in LA and has not played since. So far this season Skip has been probably the least productive player in the lineup, batting just .241 in the 14 games he has been a part of.

Allen Craig seems to have a left groin strain that came as the result of a slide to second base on Saturday. Craig has had a very nice season thus far, mainly coming off the bench. He is batting .313 in his 32 plate appearances and even went 3 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBIs in his last appearance Saturday.

The Cardinals have called up 1B Mark Hamilton (from Memphis) and 3B Nick Punto (from injury) up to the major league roster to replace them.
