Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., National Memorial

April marks the 42nd anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s tragic death. After 42 years, a national monument to honor Dr. King is nearing completion. It will join the other memorials on the National Mall in the nation’s capital in Fall 2011. The memorial will pay tribute to King’s impact and fight for peace around the world. His legacy can still be felt today as we work for a more understanding world. The memorial campaign is $14 million shy of its $120 million goal. With the nation’s help, this goal can easily be achieved. Check out http://mlkmemorialnews.org/ to see how you can help.

St. Louis native Harry Johnson is the President of the Washington, D.C. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, non-profit organization. I hope to have a more detailed story on the memorial at some point this summer.
